The Jeep® Grand Cherokee standard 3.7-litre V6 engine is powerful, efficient, durable, and smooth. It features 148kW at 5,000 rpm and 315Nm at 3,900 rpm. The engine also features a five-speed automatic transmission.

3.0-Litre CRD V6 Engine
The Jeep® Grand Cherokee optional 3.0-litre V6 engine is efficient, durable, and smooth. It features 160kW at 4,000 rpm and 510Nm at 1,600 - 2000 rpm. The engine also features third-generation common-rail direct injection and the latest in Bosch electronic injectors that deliver fuel at over 2,000 bars of pressure. The choice of materials, design, fuel injection and engine management system reflects latest innovations in diesel technologies.

4.7-Litre V8 Engine
Also optional is a 4.7-litre V8 engine, producing 170kW at 4,500 rpm and 410Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm.

5.7-Litre HEMI® V8 Engine With MDS
Reach the pinnacle of power. The available 5.7-litre HEMI® V8 is a highly refined power plant that delivers outstanding performance with reduced noise, vibration, and harshness. 6.1L SRT HEMI® V8

Four-Wheel-Drive Systems
Quadra-Drive II®
This heavy-duty four-wheel-drive system includes industry-exclusive Electronic Limited Slip Differentials (ELSDs) in front and rear axles that transfer torque unilaterally for a more stable ride on any terrain. Also works with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to monitor and respond to driving conditions, and features a low-range setting to multiply torque (standard on models excluding 3.7L V6, optional on 4.7L Laredo).

Quadra-Trac II®
This active four-wheel-drive system features a low-range setting that boosts torque when you need it – especially good for driving in extreme conditions or on steep slopes. Quadra-Trac II® works with Commander’s electronic stability program (ESP) to monitor and respond to driving conditions, utilising traction control to shift power side to side for optimum grip. (3.7L V6, 4.7L V8).

Suspension
The short- and long-arm (SLA) independent front suspension on Jeep® Grand Cherokee provides a greater sense of precision and control. The five-link rear-suspension geometry, including a track bar, helps match lateral stiffness to that of the front suspension for optimum handling. Rack-and-pinion steering completes the package for precise steering with uncompromising off-road performance.

Transmission
The transmission of power in Jeep® Grand Cherokee is nothing short of remarkable. The five-speed automatic transmission features driver interactive shift control, which provides fully automatic shifting when in the “drive” position. The driver can also manually select each gear by moving the shifter left and right from the “drive” position. This capability gives the driver the ability to precisely match any on-road or off-road requirement (3.7L, 3.0L and 6.1L). The multi-speed automatic transmission features adaptive shifting which allows the transmission to learn a driving style and adapt the shift characteristics accordingly. It also features park position locks and tow/haul mode.

ESP & Traction Control
Jeep® capability means handling uncertain driving conditions. That’s exactly why the Jeep® Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is standard on all Grand Cherokee vehicles. ESP includes all-speed traction control, brake assist, and Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM)- all of which help the driver maintain control of the vehicle during extreme steering manoeuvres. ESP works to correct the vehicle’s course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels. All-speed traction control reduces engine power and transfers torque to the appropriate wheel when slippage is detected Brake assist ensures maximum brake efficiency during emergency brake situations. Electronic roll mitigation senses when a rollover may occur and applies braking force to the correct wheel to reduce the likelihood of such an accident.

Front & Side Air-Bags
All Jeep® Grand Cherokee models feature standard advanced multistage driver and front-passenger air bags and standard front and rear side-curtain air bags, which provide additional protection to outboard occupants in the event of a collision or rollover. The integrated restraint system includes three-point lap and shoulder belts for all seating positions, with pretensioning and load-limiting retractors for the front seat belts.

ParkSense® Front/Rear Park Assist System
While backing into tight spaces, the available ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System sends sound waves from discreetly integrated sensors in the front or rear bumper to detect nearby obstacles in its path. When an object is detected, an audiovisual indicator on the overhead display in the rear of the vehicle or dash mounted indication alerts you to the proximity of most larger stationary objects that might be outside your line of sight (standard on Limited, rear park assist on SRT8).

Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System
Maintaining proper tyre pressure is paramount for optimal safety, performance, and fuel economy. The tyre-pressure monitoring display system standard for Jeep® Grand Cherokee Limited and SRT8 models features tyre-valve stem-mounted sensors that monitor individual tyre pressures for all four rotating tyres and warn if pressure is too low or too high.
