Reclining 60/40 Rear Seats
Cherokee's standard 60/40 split-folding rear seats include seatbacks with four recline positions with a maximum recline angle of 33.5 degrees for enhanced comfort on long trips.
Fold-Flat Front Passenger Seat
Need to haul some lumber home for the kid’s tree house? The space is yours. Cherokee’s fold-flat front-passenger seat, standard on Cherokee Sport and Limited, gives you the versatility you need for transporting long cargo inside your vehicle. Once flat, the seatback can be used as a utility table.

Heated Front Bucket Seats
Once you try heated seats, you’ll never go back. Enjoy warmth on cold days as well as soothing comfort for sore muscles and backs, with Cherokee Limited’s heated front bucket seats with leather trim. The high and low-temperature heating switch is conveniently located on the centre stack. When high-temperature heating is selected, the heat output remains at the normal high-temperature level for 30 minutes, then changes to low for 30 minutes, and then turns off. This feature is standard on Cherokee Limited.
Personal Storage
If an active lifestyle frames your day, use the Cherokee as an extension of that ideal. The reversible rear cargo tray provides two alternatives for rear cargo configuration — a flat, carpeted floor, or an expansive waterproof tray. And the "thoughtful considerations" list goes on. Glove Box
Size matters when you're trying to store your things. Open it and fill it up and the large glove box has enough space to fit your work gloves, maps or whatever other odds and ends you choose to store. A front passenger grab handle is located above the glove box — for those "rugged" trails.
Centre Stack
For additional storage, a large open bin located on the centre stack offers convenient access to your in-car essentials including CDs, MP3 player(s), maps and more, and provides a rubber mat to help prevent items from sliding.
Centre Console
The Ayres Rock of centre consoles: the utilitarian full-length centre console includes plenty of storage in the lower bin, with extra space in the removable upper tray for small items like a cell phone, PDA or iPod®. A handy coin storage bin is built in to the upper tray. An elastic strap on the passenger side of the console securely holds maps and important papers in place.
Cherokee's two cup holders are engineered to be sturdy and fit a multitude of drink sizes. But should your cup runneth over, just remove the washable liners and wash them out.
SELEC-TRAC II® 4WD
Put it in 4WD AUTO mode. The next generation Selec-Trac II® 4WD, with the new two-speed, full-time active “on demand” four-wheel drive transfer case can be engaged all the time, even on smooth dry pavement.
When driving in 4WD AUTO mode, the system instantly detects tyre slip and smoothly distributes engine torque to the tyres with traction. Transfer of torque from one wheel to the other on an axle is accomplished by using a Brake Traction Control system. Under the right conditions, the Cherokee can be driven by one wheel.
The full-time system still has the traditional 2WD High, 4WD AUTO and 4WD LO operation modes. Use the electronic shifter for outstanding off-road capability.
The electronic system is now tied to Cherokee’s traction control, Electronic Stability Program* (ESP), Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control (automatic equipped models only). Neutral mode permits flat towing.
Fuel Tank
Cherokee’s 73.8-litre fuel tank provides a driving range of approximately 626 km (will vary depending upon power train and drive configuration).
3.7L V6 Engine
Power up to Go Anywhere, Do Anything.™ The All New Cherokee’s standard 3.7L SOHC V6 engine churns out 151 kW with 314 Nm of torque.
The V6 engine's pistons are made of lightweight aluminium and precision forged powder metal connecting rods to minimize weight (also helps contribute to the engine's high rpm capability).
A four-speed automatic transmission comes standard with Cherokee Sport.

Transmissions
Five-Speed Automatic
The five-speed automatic transmission, standard on the 2.8L turbo diesel engine, provides world class efficiency and fuel economy. The broad ratio spread between first and fifth gears helps minimize fuel consumption and also reduces engine noise while cruising.
Four-Speed Automatic
Standard on both Cherokee Sport and Cherokee Limited is the smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission.
The advanced four-speed transmission uses fully adaptive electronic control for exceptionally smooth shifting. Push the TOW / HAUL button next to the shifter for improved vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. The TOW / HAUL mode inhibits fourth gear and allows upshifts to third gear during higher speed / lighter loads.
New Suspension
The Jeep® Cherokee's new short-long arm (SLA) independent front suspension, new five-link rear suspension and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering were tuned for an optimum balance of comfort, ride, responsive handling and enhanced steering control.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Slick surfaces beware. Cherokee Sport and Cherokee Limited come standard with advanced Electronic Stability Program* (ESP), all-speed traction control, hydraulic brake assist and Electronic Roll Mitigation* (ERM) systems which work together by applying selective wheel braking and engine throttle control to help the driver maintain vehicle directional stability.
There are three modes of ESP to choose from: Full-on, partial and full-off for varying degrees of traction control — the choice is yours.
Traction Control
All-speed traction control senses drive-wheel slip and applies individual brakes to a slipping wheel(s) until traction is regained.
Hill Descent Control
New for the Jeep® Cherokee, and included on all 4x4 models with automatic transmission, is Hill Descent Control (HDC). HDC allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal.
Hill Start Assist
Another new feature for Jeep® Cherokee is Hill Start Assist (HSA). Standard on all Cherokee models, this feature assists drivers when starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill by maintaining the level of brake pressure applied for a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal. If throttle is not applied within a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal, brake pressure will be released.
Braking
Cherokee's standard four-wheel disc Antilock Brake System (ABS) with brake assist and traction control helps prevent wheel lockup for improved steering under extreme braking and slippery conditions, and aids in trail driving when in available four-wheel-drive 4LO mode (when properly equipped). ABS modulates the brakes to reduce stopping distances and improve steering control under braking.
Because all roads aren't paved or smooth, Cherokee's four-wheel antilock brake system has a unique rough road detection system that has a special program to assist Cherokee's stopping performance on gravel or dirt roads.
In a panic brake condition, Cherokee's Brake Assist system applies maximum braking power, providing the shortest possible stopping distance.
Parksense® Rear Park Assist
The ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System* uses sound waves to detect nearby obstacles in and near the rear path of the vehicle, to help you manoeuvre in tight spaces at parking speeds. Audio-visual indicators in the overhead display in the rear path of the vehicle alert you to the proximity of larger, stationary objects that might be outside your line of sight. Standard on Sport and Limited.
Sentry Key® Engine Immobiliser
The All New Jeep® Cherokee isn't easily stolen. Cue the standard Sentry Key® antitheft deterrent system, which has a small transmitter chip embedded in the key (includes two keys) or key fob — a feature that makes it virtually impossible to drive the vehicle without a valid key.
Alarm System / Remote Keyless Entry
An available alarm system deters would-be thieves from breaking into your Jeep® Cherokee, keeping your personal items safe.
Cherokee also comes standard with a Remote Keyless / Illuminated Entry system that includes lock and unlock.
Cargo Compartment
A stylish retractable compartment cover keeps valuables out of sight in the cargo area. The cover is easy to install and remove when not in use. Standard on Sport and Limited.
Air Bags
Safety and security come first. Both Cherokee Sport and Limited feature standard advanced multistage driver and front-passenger air bags,* supplemental side-curtain air bags* with Occupant Classification System, and roll-sensing technology for additional side-impact protection.
