The Dodge Nitro, the first-ever mid-size Dodge SUV takes to the streets with a commanding presence, sporty performance and flexible interior.

Load ‘N Go™
Nitro’s class-exclusive LOAD ‘N GO™ cargo floor (standard on SXT) slides out over the rear bumper to make loading heavy or awkward items easier. With a whopping 181 kg capacity and six cargo tie-downs, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Rear Cargo Bin/Tray
Nitro SX’s reversible rear cargo tray provides the best of both worlds with two alternative cargo configurations in the spacious rear hatch area. One side is a flat floor for easy loading and unloading of large, bulky cargo. Flip it over and you can store loose or smaller items within the moulded tray to help keep things from rolling around and getting damaged or lost.

Cargo Tie-Downs
Six articulating tie-downs attached to the cargo load floor help ensure safe and secure transportation of cargo weighting up to 181 kg. When not in use, they fold out of the way.

Integrated Cup-Holders
Make it a double. Two cup holders with removable and washable liners for front-seat passengers and two moulded cup holders for rear-seat passengers are integrated into the centre console for miles of thirst-quenching enjoyment.

Centre Console
Nitro’s front centre floor console with upper and lower storage trays help organise and store your stuff out of sight and out of mind. The lower bin can hold up to 13 DVD cases, and the removable upper tray with integral coin storage area is designed to hold a mobile phone, MP3 player, or other electronic device. Suspension
Nitro’s standard sport suspension and wheels-to-the-corner design gives you serious pavement-punishing traction and a smooth, stable ride. A short-and long-arm (SLA) independent front suspension provides rock-steady ride, handling and steering control, and a new solid-axle five-link rear suspension offers improved stability – especially when fully loaded or towing a trailer. Both Nitro models feature performance-tuned suspension for even more grip.

Towing
Ready. Set. Pull. Nitro can tow a whopping 2,270 kg* when equipped with a load levelling device or 1,600 kg without.

So you want to go places? A shift-on-the-fly part-time four-wheel-drive system comes standard on Nitro which allows the vehicle to operate in 2WD mode for optimum fuel economy or 4WD mode in low traction situations at the flick of a switch.

Nitro’s potent 2.8-litre CRD engine delivers its punches through a standard electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission – the same heavy-duty gearbox found on the mighty 6.1-litre HEMI®* powered Chrysler 300C SRT8 and Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT8.

3.7-litre V6-powered Nitro vehicles feature variable line pressure which reduces line pressure when not required resulting in 2-3% improvement in fuel economy.

There’s safety in numbers – and the Nitro comes up big. The 2007 Dodge Nitro earned a five-star safety rating – NHTSA’s highest government ratings for both front & side crash rating.

ESP
Electronic Stability Program is designed to assist drivers in maintaining control of their vehicles during extreme steering manoeuvres, ESP senses when a vehicle is starting to spin (oversteer) or plough (understeer), and attempts to correct the vehicle’s course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels.

Braking
Nitro’s standard four-wheel-disc antilock brake system (ABS) with brake assist helps prevent wheel lockup for shorter stopping distances and improved control under extreme braking or slippery conditions.
