Dodge to Auction First 2008 Challengers
Bidders get ready. Chrysler announced today that the first two all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger vehicles off the Brampton (Ontario) Assembly Plant production line will be auctioned, with proceeds benefiting local charities.
The all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger - the ultimate modern American muscle coupe - will make its worldwide debut at the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 6, 2008.
"Dodge is thrilled to build on the excitement of the countdown to the return of the Challenger by giving consumers the chance to get one of the first all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger vehicles produced," said Mike Accavitti, Director - Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing. "The Dodge Challenger is an icon and the revival of this storied nameplate has enthusiasts chomping at the bit to get one. Consumers now have the opportunity to not only own the car of their dreams, but to help those in less fortunate circumstances as well."
The vehicles chosen to be auctioned for charity will all be Street and Racing Technology (SRTŪ) models. Each will feature a HEMIŪ Orange exterior, hood stripes, a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine, and a five-speed automatic transmission with AutostickŪ.
Proceeds from Dodge Challenger No. 1 will benefit notMYkid, an organization dedicated to facilitating improved understanding about youth behavioral health issues including suicide, drug abuse, eating disorders and depression. Dodge Challenger No. 1 will be auctioned at the 37th annual Barret-Jackson Collector Car Auction Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., Jan. 12-20, 2008.
Proceeds from Dodge Challenger No. 2 will benefit the United Way of Southeastern Michigan, through a private auction for Dodge dealers. The auction begins Sept. 26.
Information about the third Challenger to be auctioned via eBay.com will be announced at a later date.

Dodge Caliber R/T arrives packing more punch
Dodge has injected more grunt to its popular Caliber crossover hatch adding a sporty Caliber R/T model to its range.
Already available with 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines, in ST, SX and SXT models, the new R/T becomes the fourth Caliber model and is equipped with a more powerful normally aspirated 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 125 kW and 220 Nm.
This all-new engine has dual variable valve timing and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission for excellent acceleration and economy.
“The public’s appetite for bold, American designed vehicles that stand out from the crowd is alive and well,” said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Group Australia.
“The Dodge Caliber has shown great momentum in the short time it has been available and the arrival of the more powerful 2.4-litre engine further broadens its appeal.
“We’re selling all of the Calibers that we can get our hands on. When supply frees up we will sell even more,” said Jenkins.
The Caliber boasts a comprehensive list of standard features including: dual front and sidecurtain air bags, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, keyless entry with Sentry Key® engine immobiliser, security alarm, central locking, air-conditioning, CD stereo, tilt steering wheel, driver one-touch power windows, power folding heated exterior mirrors and 60/40 split rear seats that fold flat.
The R/T model with its larger 2.4-litre engine, adds as standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control and Brake Assist,18-inch alloy wheels, cloth seats with colour inserts, a bright exhaust tip and chrome body details.
Unique features available on the Caliber further differentiate the product from the ‘vanilla’ offerings currently in the market place.
These fun features include MusicGate Power®, a 458 watt nine speaker Boston Acoustics premium sound system with subwoofer that includes two articulating speakers packaged in the liftgate, Chill Zone® (standard) - a cooled beverage storage bin that can hold up to four standard bottles or cans and a dual-purpose self-recharging removable flashlight (standard), mounted in the headliner of the vehicle.
Testifying to the Caliber’s clever design, the all new vehicle has also received the US government’s highest rating for side and frontal-impact crash protection with a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
