With nothing else like it on the road, the Chrysler PT Cruiser continues to set its own standards of style and innovation. With a new look for 2006 and a standard 2.4L engine, it certainly combines the best of two automotive worlds - fun and function.
PT Cruiser presents an evocative retro styling built around contemporary design and state of the art engineering, creating a vehicle of both practical and entertaining versatility. With 2,820 litres of interior space, PT Cruiser offers the flexibility to pack, stow and carry almost anything.

Exterior
New for the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser is a new front fascia, new headlights shape, new rear bumper and clear lens tail lights, new wheels, a lift gate lip spoiler, and a new front grille with chrome accents.
There's no doubt that the PT Cruiser was designed to make an impression. "The PT Cruiser embodies a design that evokes emotion in people all around the world," says Chrysler's product development and design chief Tom Gale. "Its distinct appearance is unmatched by any vehicle on the road today."
From the pronounced front guards and prominent slatted grille to the wrap-around headlights and a five-door body that screams attitude rather than family planning, the PT Cruiser is a successful mix of '30s and '40s style with 21st Century technology and packaging.
Anybody who sees the PT Cruiser on the road can attest to the success of the visual element of the design process, but a good look at the interior shows it is also a car that works.
The PT Cruiser has been called a 'segment buster' because beneath the desirable exterior is a thoroughly modern, thoroughly practical family car that defies labels such as small wagon, all terrain wagon or even sports car. Instead through ingenious design this car seems to deliver the best of all worlds.
Interior

Chrysler PT Cruiser's stunning looks are only matched by its interior functionality and practicality. With space like a wagon, comfort and features galore, and Chrysler style. Whatever your lifestyle the PT Cruiser is accommodating.

Performance
The 2.4 litre four-cylinder DOHC 16 valve SMPI power plant offers up to 105 kW of power at 5,200 rpm and 214 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
When matched to either the five speed manual or four speed automatic transmissions the PT Cruiser is a car that begs to be driven. This combination provides brisk acceleration and smooth highway cruising.
A unique industry first rear suspension combination of a twist beam axle, guided by trailing arms and a Watt's linkage, puts the bite in rear tyre cornering. The Watt's linkage combines upper and lower lateral links with a third link that pivots at its centre on the axle, constraining the axle's lateral movement. The lateral stiffness engineered in the Watt's linkage setup along with a rear stabiliser bar helps control side-to-side sway providing more precise handling.
The firm front springs and struts along with a stabilser bar reduce body lean and contribute to the PT Cruiser's outstanding handling and responsiveness. And when you combine the unique Watt's linkage rear suspension, the responsive rack and pinion steering and Independant MacPherson Strut front suspension you find that the PT Cruiser really is a drivers car.
The PT Cruiser comes standard with four wheel disc brakes and ABS on both models. The ABS prevents wheel lockup resulting in shorter stopping distances and increased steering control in hard-braking situations. The four wheel disc brakes dissipate heat quickly to reduce brake fade, making sure that your brakes are there when you need them. Using the same wheel sensors as the ABS, low-speed traction control determines when one or both driving wheels start to slip and applies the brakes to help regain traction. Traction control is automatically active below 51 kmh, but the driver may disable it via a switch in the instrument panel centre stack.
